After nearly two decades as a role model professional footballer, Fabian Wilnis can look back with huge satisfaction on a career packed with highs, excitement, drama and memories.
Three pro clubs and hundreds of games - including more than 300 for Ipswich Town, many in the Barclays Premier League - pays testament to his talent, attitude and determination down the years.
Now, looking back, he must feel immense pride at his achievements - and harbour fond memories of his early days playing the beautiful game he loves so much.
His talent for sport became evident from a tender age and he enjoyed nothing more than a kick-around with his three older brothers.
One of them could have made the grade, too, but it was a young Fabian - then only a budding schoolboy - who showed more desire and soon joined his first team, NOC.
After a four-year stay there, he joined another Rotterdam youth side in the shape of De Zwervers, where he stayed from the age of 11 to 15.
Next up were Sparta Rotterdam, for three years, before landing his first professional contract with NAC Breda.
